How contact hours are calculated in the Inspectioneering Training platform

Contact hours are calculated using a standardized formula designed to comply with recognized continuing education and accreditation standards. This policy ensures that the time invested in our courses is measured objectively and translates consistently into verifiable professional development credit.

For the purposes of our training programs, one contact hour is strictly defined as 60 minutes of active learner engagement with eligible instructional content. The total contact hours for any given course are determined by aggregating the estimated completion time for all required learning materials, based on the following objective benchmarks:
  1. Video Content: Calculated using the exact, unadjusted runtime of the instructional videos.
  2. Written Materials: Estimated based on an average adult reading pace of 200 words per minute.
  3. Assessments: Comprehension checks and final exams are allocated an estimated 1.5 minutes per question. This accounts for the reasonable time required for a learner to read, process, and answer the material.
To determine the final course credit, the estimated minutes from the individual learning components above are aggregated to establish the Total Contact Minutes. This sum is then divided by 60 to yield the final Contact Hours.
